Our Children
Well, everyone on the farm is doing well.  We lost a rooster a while back... not sure what happened, but he was found floating in the horse trough.  I'm not saying anything, but the donkey looked pretty guilty!!!

Here is a picture of the boys.  They love each other... if you get Flinty out to ride...the donkey goes CRAZY... running along the fence line...kicking up his heels and farting!!! LOL!  What a sight!!!
Here is the lone rooster, Larry...he is definitely a pretty boy!

A new kitty showed up right around Christmas time... he must have been dropped by someone who knows we are suckers for a sweet face... He has turned into a great outside kitty... he and Lily haven't bonded yet...and I doubt they will...but they seem to give each other their space.  Lily has take over the front porch, while Sammy hangs out on the back porch...

Meet Sammy...

Well no blog post would be complete without a picture of Maggie Moo!   She has been such a blessing to our pack!  She is by far the best dog that I have ever had the priveledge to own... I just can't say enought great stuff about her!  Even Jay, the cat person, loves her!

Well, Jay will be mad if I don't post a picture of his boys... so here are the "pampered" children of the family!!!  Jasper and Toby (the big boy).

Life on Sinking Creek Farm

Well, in the last couple of months, things on the farm have changed a bit.  Kelly got a new horse - Guyver.  He is her "dream" dressage horse (except for his size... you need a ladder to get on him!).  We have also just added a run in shed for the animals before the winter descends upon the NRV.

Fence Building is Hard Work!!!

My dad came down for Memorial Day weekend and helped Jay and I replace most of the fencing! My measure for a sucessful installation: no ER visits and a fence that would keep the mule in... We accomplished both! Thanks Dad and Jay for all the hard work!!!

Jasper aka Jazzy

The newest siamese, Jasper, is quite the character... I think the pictures speak for themselves!

Kelly's New Baby

Well, since Abby passed away a month ago, I have been looking for a new baby. Well, I am pleased to announce that we have added a black lab to the household. Her name is Maggie and she is about a year old. She is about as sweet as they come. She is wide open outside, but you get in her in the house and she calms down and lays down and chills! She has met everyone in the family and has been very good with everyone. The siamese boys aren't so sure about her yet... they won't come down... and of course, Jay is pouting...The outside boys are pretty intrigued with her; however, Maggie thinks the mule is something to play with like another dog! Should be an exciting week!

Happy New Year

Well, it was an exciting year for the Moran family. We added 2 new children to the fold: Jasper and Jed. In February, we lost 2 beloved family members, Yoda and Larry. Yoda, Jay's siamese was 19 yrs, 9 mos. He lived a wonderful life. Larry, Flint's chicken, was murdered by a predator. Therefore, the search for new friends ensued.

Meet Jasper: seal point siamese

Kelly spent all summer working with Flint at our friend, Kerry's. Flint spent the summer at Kerry's with her horses. Kelly's goal for the end of the project was to ride Flint home. Success came in September when Kelly rode Flint the 1.5 miles to the house.

After spending the summer with friends, Flint was lonely. Kerry and Kelly went to a mule auction. Next thing you know is that we have a new member of the family: Jed! Jed is a 5 year old, 15 h+, bay mule gelding. He is very smart. In the first 2 weeks of living with us, he escaped the pasture 3 times! With the recent snow, the boys have gotten blankets! Jed even had to get a pedicure b/c of the snow that was trapped in his shoes. The last picture is Jay supervising!

Living and WORKING on the Farm

It never seems that we ever get everything done that needs done! My dad came down this weekend and helped us finally get all the fencing done so that Flint has full range of the 4+acres. It was a lot of hard work, a few words were exchanged, energy expended, but in the end, the fence is complete and it looks great! Jay was in charge of the tractor, Dad kept everything plumb and in line, and I was in charge of adding the nails to the boards. All in all, a successful project! Flint seems to like it, don't you think?

Update on Flint

Well, the past couple of months have been exciting with Flint. We have gone from him trying to bully me, bite me, to gaining his respect and trust. I must admit that I have not gotten this far without the help of some great people. Reanna, my riding instructor, came out a couple of weeks ago and finally, successfully got me on Flint. It was scary and exciting all at the same time. Also Terri Wood, a natural horsewoman has been out twice. She is fabulous and has instructed me on the Parelli Partnership methods. Flint has really taken to the 7 games and I must admit that I think that I have fallen in love with a horse! Nothing like living out your childhood dreams at 34!
